The moment you pick “Street Food” as the theme for your Food Festival, you are trying to climb Everest! But Trident Hyderabad does the unthinkable and actually spoils you for choices at their new food festival Eat The Street – Street Foods of the World. The spread spans from Indian to Oriental to Tex-Mex to European to Mediterranean to African to Caribbean, and just these choices can knock you out.
The place has been set-up really well too. The food stations are made to look like kiosks on the streets of these famous places. And that too with a Live kitchen and all ingredients stacked up right there making for a best restaurant in Hyderabad setting.
Chatori Galli – Indian Street Food at Trident Hyderabad
Papdi Chats, Dahi Bhalla, Vada Chutney, Bhel and Pav Bhaji adorn the stall. Keeping in mind how biased we are towards Indian food, this stall extends to main course like Butter Chicken, Nihari and Biryani.
Again making an appearance was the Litti Chokha, this time with some brinjal mash. I missed the ghee on top but the Chokha more than made-up for that.
Tex-Mex – Street Food Festival at Trident Hyderabad
The most bustling counter of them all. Loaded with so many options ranging from Nachos to Mac n Cheese to Corn Cheesy to Curry Prawns.
The sliders were made to order with toppings of choice and the swiftness worked really well with the whole street food act.
Sawadika – Oriental Street Food at Eat The Street
Going by the name I thought with was an all Thai stall, but then I saw some Kimchi and Satays, so looked more varied. Got to know that this was the oriental counter, a region that is most famous for the street food and quick eats. And it surely dint disappoint.
The Satays kept on rolling all night and were very filling. The Baos were piping hot and super soft, followed by the Ramen Bowls.
European Street Food at Trident Hyderabad
Crepes, Bratwurst, Pastry and Breads making up this corner. Going with the European theme of casual and light street food, this one comes as a respite from the gluttony on the other counters. They are also serving some sliders on another stall which might be passed off as European too.
Mediterranean – Platters from the Streets
The colourful platter with Falafel, Pita and Crackers served with Humus, Babaghanoush and Tzatziki dips. Given a choice, I would have just been stuck to this one corner and continued the carnage.
Caribbean and African – At Trident Hyderabad
The corner which offered a lot of new things, like the Bunny Chow from South Africa, Tenderloin Patty from the Caribbean and some Khuskhus too. The patty was flaky on the outside and stuffed with succulent meat on the inside. Bunny Chow is more like an Indian dish taking over the Street Food Scene in SA.
Desserts – at Eat The Street Food Festival
Just getting hold of desserts across all these stalls was very tough. This course is where you are actually spoilt for choices and the heart-stomach relation goes askew. We got a beautiful serving of some Waffles, Ice-Cream and Crepes.
I found my true love in the rich Chocolate Raisin cake that was so gooey and amazing that I dint want to say bye to this one.
Overall, the team at Trident Hyderabad has hit the Street-Food game for a Homerun with this one. The whole set-up, the spread of food and the pairing requires a lot of time and as a food lover, you will be confused about what to miss. I really hope that they would extend this one a little more, but like all good things, this one is short and sweet!
